Former Sanders adviser: ‘Never a chance in hell’ Harris would win

Tezlyn Figaro, a former campaign adviser to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), said “there was never a chance in hell” that Vice President Harris would win the presidential election, putting blame on President Biden’s late dropout announcement and big-money consultants.

“There was never a chance in hell that VP Harris was going to have a shot at this,” Figaro told NewsNation’s Dan Abrams on Friday.

“They’re setting her up for a 100-day campaign, a woman of color in particularly, a 100-day campaign was a disaster,” Figaro added. “Joe Biden should have got off, the last two years, they should’ve had a primary and ran somebody for that seat.”

When asked what she sees as the problem, Figaro pointed to a couple things.

“Well, one, Joe Biden was the problem, he should have got off beforehand,” Figaro said.

“But I do want to address the consultant class that have fumbled… a billion-dollar bag,” she added, claiming that big-money consultants have been doing this “since Obama ran.”

“They have literally came into these cities; they did not listen to the grassroots,” Figaro said, noting that “they spent all the money on celebrities” and “did not listen to the needs of the people.”

“They got exactly what they earned and it’s unfortunate because the people will now suffer as a result,” Figaro said.

“It is time, respectfully, to the George Clooneys of the world, the Hollywood of the world, respectfully to the James Carville of the world, who they’re still listening to… it’s time for them to have a seat and listen to the grassroots,” she added, saying that “until they do that, Democrats will continue to fail.”

After Harris’s brutal loss, Democrats questioned their reliance on A-list celebrity endorsements as the vice president’s campaign had a heavy dose of glitz, from Taylor Swift’s endorsement to an appearance in the closing days of the campaign by Beyoncé, whose 2016 hit “Freedom” was used as an unofficial theme song throughout Harris’s White House bid.
